How is GPA calculated?
Each letter grade has a numeric value (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, etc.). If all courses have equal credits, GPA is the simple average. With different credit hours, it's a weighted average: sum of (grade points ร credits) divided by total credits.
What GPA do I need for grad school?
Most graduate programs require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Competitive programs (top MBA, law, medical schools) typically expect 3.5+. However, GPA is just one factor, test scores, experience, recommendations, and personal statements also matter significantly.
