Frequently Asked Questions

How much extra material should I order?

A standard rule: add 10% extra for simple projects and 15% for complex layouts, curves, or diagonal patterns. For concrete, add 5-10% for spillage and uneven ground. For roofing, add 10% for simple roofs and 15% for complex designs with many valleys and hips.

How do I calculate concrete in cubic yards?

Multiply length × width × depth (all in feet) to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to get cubic yards. For example, a 10×10 foot slab that's 4 inches deep: 10 × 10 × 0.333 = 33.3 cubic feet ÷ 27 = 1.24 cubic yards. Always round up and add 5-10% for waste.

How many gallons of paint do I need for a room?

Calculate total wall area (room perimeter × ceiling height), subtract about 20 sq ft per door and 15 sq ft per window, divide by 350 sq ft (coverage per gallon), and multiply by your number of coats. A typical 12×10 room with 8-foot ceilings needs about 2 gallons for 2 coats.
