What is the most common unit conversion?

Inches to centimeters (multiply by 2.54) and pounds to kilograms (multiply by 0.453592) are the two most frequently searched conversions globally. Fahrenheit to Celsius is also extremely common, especially for weather and cooking.

Why are there two different gallon sizes?

The US gallon (3.785 liters) and the Imperial gallon (4.546 liters) are different measurements. Our converters use the US gallon unless otherwise specified. The Imperial gallon is about 20% larger and is used in the UK and some Commonwealth countries.

How do I convert temperature?

Fahrenheit to Celsius: subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. Celsius to Fahrenheit: multiply by 9/5, then add 32. Quick reference: 0°C = 32°F (freezing), 100°C = 212°F (boiling), 37°C = 98.6°F (body temp).
